The SMF team and Simple Machines have recently reviewed our policy on the use of the string "SMF" (upper or lower case) in usernames at simplemachines.org. We have this policy to prevent confusion, protect our reputation, and protect the trademarks of Simple Machines. At the same time, we recognize that it is useful for community members to form teams, create mods and themes, and communicate with Simple Machines community users at Simple Machines.org. For teams which have already established websites that adhere to our policy on use of the Simple Machines trademarks, it will often be possible to create and use an associated username for use at simplemachines.org, as long as you follow these rules:
The SMF team may choose at any time to create accounts containing a trademarked string, to be used by the SMF team for team business.
Thanks

- Before creating the username, contact the SMF Project Manager (Runic). State the purpose in creating the username, and wait for permission, please also include an email that can be used for the account as accounts will be created by an admin and a temporary password set.
- Your site must be in compliance with the Simple Machines trademark policy http://www.simplemachines.org/about/trademarks.php
- The account signature must always contain a disclaimer stating that the account is neither affiliated with nor endorsed by Simple Machines.
