My stalking pays off ;)
September 19, 2009, 05:09:48 PM Posted by Jade Elizabeth on September 19, 2009, 05:09:48 PM in My stalking pays off ;) | 22 CommentsHey everyone!!
Sometimes the SMF team members meet up to discuss SMF work and have a little fun getting to know each other offline. The biggest and most official of these meet ups has been the Meeting of the Minds (MoTM), in which most of the team met up and worked on SMF face to face for about a week.
Though I was not on the team during the MoTM and therefore couldn't go, I've had the pleasure of meeting up with a few SMF team members including Amacythe (Project Manager) and dschwab9 (Site Team Lead, though he was a Project Manager at the time) in the past. We hung out and had lunch, while still discussing SMF stuff .
Recently, I've had the pleasure of meeting up with a certain SMF Friend (Former Support Lead and Project Manager) for a week. This particular friend is one I've adored since before I became a team member, and is the reason I am one today (he pushed and inspired me to keep writing). It all started with a stalkerish appreciation topic which some may remember, We love BlackMage!! I've locked the topic so that it cannot be bumped, by the way . After that topic we got talking and found we had heaps in common. Since then Justin (Metallica48423, former BlackMage) and I have been best friends – which is almost 2 years now.
Justin drove down to GA, where I live, and took me to a Metallica concert in Nashville Tennessee. It was AWESOME, and Metallica rocked! They had lasers, smoke, and FIRE!! We had lots of fun, and couldn't hear for hours afterwards. But it was worth it!!
We spent the rest of the week just messing around, travelling and hanging out doing what ever we thought would be fun. We met up with another SMF Friend, Douglas (aka TheBear), and went bowling (we each won one of the three games) too!
Even though I met up with SMF Friends and not teamies (this time), the fun I had with them will definitely help me be fresher when I write my next document . Speaking of documentation, we've got some awesome things coming so keep an ear to the ground!
Here's a few pics of Justin and I .

Justin seems to always be higher than you... like, location-wise, in the pictures
He's a foot taller LOL Was so hard to try to be even, I should have just sat on him .
Yeah, being a foot taller than her kinda makes it hard to both be at the same level for pictures
well, hell.... I didn't know that you lived down in GA. I was just down there at the beginning of the month for Dragon*Con.

Really? I heard about it but didnt have anyone to go with LOL.
Too bad y'all didn't come a bit further south to Florida... I could have taken you somewhere
If i'd had more time, we might've considered that. But considering that i had to work all this week while still traveling, time was pretty much a luxury, haha.
I'm on track to end this trip with a total of 2,200 miles traveled

you should definitely make it to Dragon*Con some year (it's held in Atlanta on Labor Day weekend, every year)
40,000 people at the con this year.
If anyone ever makes it up to Massachusetts, give me a yell.

I LOVE outback!! Their lamb is to die for!!
outback is good, but also hugely expensive.
sadly, after an awesome vacation, i am now headed home. right now, i'mon I-75 in southern tennessee headed north, and still have the entirety of tennessee, kentucky, ohio, and about 80 miles of michigan to drive through.
it's gonna be a long night :S

When Jade and I ate at a steakhouse, though it wasn't Outback, it cost around $40 for the 2 of us. I know outback well enough to know that their prices are similar to this steakhouse's prices.
It was worth every penny though
ahhh.... ok.
I don't see $20 per person as particularly expensive. Then again, I like good food, so it is not unusual for me to have an $80-$100 bill for the three people in my family when we go out to eat.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I made it home safely. I'll post my story up once I'm awake and have time to settle back into the daily grind.
Later.
