As most of you will undoubtedly already have seen, SMF 2.0 RC2 has been released to our Charter Members about an hour ago.
It's been a few months since the release of RC1, but loads of bugs have been fixed since. It's not just bugs that delayed the release, though: RC2 boasts our brand-new Curve theme, featuring rewrites of all SMF's templates and of course a slick new look.
For those not familiar with our preview releases system: after our Charter Members have had their go at it, and no blocking bugs appear, 2.0 RC2 will, of course, go public.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Charter Members for their continued support for SMF!
Thanks,
Aaron

Great job to all the hard workers.
how long must we wait?
Quote from: Raffaele1977 on October 19, 2009, 02:15:16 AMThe team is working hard on getting RC2 out as soon as possible, in the discussion boards a lot of discussion is taking place on bugs, Curve and optimization. So in short, when its ready. I won't expect a huge delay but I don't know when it will be done(And as a matter of fact, no one does).
how long must we wait?
I fully understand why the standard answer is "when it's ready" but would appreciate an indication of likely timescale for release. I'm currently working on a totally new website and forums (converting from phpBB2) which is due to go live around Jan/Feb next year. If SMF 2 is released I'd like to go with that from the start rather than upgrade later (the Curve theme will work perfectly for me so it means I don't have to mess about with other themes in the interim). How likely is it that SMF2 will be ready for a live site by then?
We can't give you a timescale, it is ready when it's ready.
That said, RC2 should not be too long - though only the devs can make the call as to when that will be - and RC2 is pretty usable already (since we use it here)
