CodeFest

As many of you may know, the SMF Team has been pushing hard to get SMF 2.0 finished and begin the transition from SMF 1.1. Unfortunately, as happens when trying to write quality software with a set of volunteers, that process tends to become lengthy as bugs pop up. The quantity of work to be done starts to pile up.
To combat this, after some deep discussions between the Project Managers and Developers, we decided to hold a small get together dubbed "CodeFest", which begins Tomorrow -- Tuesday February 24th - Saturday, February 28th in Tucson, Arizona.
The idea of holding a get together stems from the productivity we have seen in the past during the Meeting of the Minds and our recent visit to OSCON in Portland, where massive amounts of work was able to be performed without the interruptions of our daily lives for a bit. The intention of this meeting was to get as many of our more prominent coders and leaders to Arizona to knock heads together with the sole intention of working on the SMF distribution. We plan to stick as many of our coders as possible in a dungeon, throw away the key, and if we're lucky, they'll get fed...
We sent an invite to each of our developers to attend, as well as several of our team members hand picked by the developers. Of the invitations that were sent, five people will attend: Compuart, Aäron, SleePy, SlammedDime, and me
.
During this event we intend to address as many of the long-standing bugs remaining in the bug tracker as possible, and discuss our visions for the future of the software. I hope to post a summary of the day's activities for you guys if I can, the most important people here, our community
I arrived here safely on Saturday night after a long day of hanging out in airports, and have been busy helping prepare for the event. Compuart will arrive here later tonight, while Aaron and SleePy will be arriving tomorrow night and SlammedDime the day after.
Thanks goes to the community for the continued support of the SMF Project. Thanks for all you guys do

I hope the project managers have their whips ready.
Don't use the whip from Underworld 3
good point, i missed that
On a side note, is this why none of you have posted in my topic about the Mod/Theme Site? Or is it you have no interest in doing anything with it?
Thanks for all your hard work!
Happy coding!
The 6th person is "unknown"
I didn't know [unknown] was going
I mistakenly said 6. Originally Motoko-chan was supposed to attend but had to back out for work-related issues. There are five of us plus Amacythe who is hosting the event.
Anyhow, All of us but SlammedDime made it here okay and we have began having discussions pertaining to SMF beyond version 2.0. We plan to continue these discussions tomorrow and begin going through some of the oldest bugs in the tracker.
So did he still arrive but in a bad condition or just didnt make it at all?
Though, if I had to guess the other three guys, it would be in this order:
Back row: Compuart, Metallica, Sleepy
Front Row: SlammedDime, Aaron.
With Amacythe behind the camera, naturally.
You got it right though Gary.
Free advertising.
You'd make a killing selling SMF pencils. Everyone uses pencils. You might even make enough money to buy another server power supply
With SMF pencils.
The bugtracker should provide some info on what has been fixed, although I'm not sure if it has been fully updated yet (the developers were sharing a 56k connection)
What else? Come on spill the beans!
If you are going to open the can, I think you should have to spill what is inside. PLEASEEEEEEEEEE! LOL
Damn it, I want to know now.
Maybe next time SMF can hold one on the other side of the pond ?
Hope you all accomplish everything you set out to do..
Thats still better than my 28k
Even my phone has a minimum of 128Kbit o0
Apparently Justin's phone was one of the few that had reception, and he managed to loose his charger
I live in a small Australian town. Downloading a movie like underworld 3 at 900mbs is about a day, thats why i don't have windows 7
